With members from over 8 countries, and every conceivable background, industry & demographic, The Ops Spot represents the global, remote economy we all now live & work in.
We bring our whole selves to the table, and represent ourselves as we are – human beings, not just professionals – with passions, interests & vulnerabilities. We do not do each other the disservice of beating around the bush, or withholding information that could help each other learn & grow. Though always delivered with respect, we say what needs to be said.
We are not here for the whiners, for the victims. We are here for the Operations people who take life by the horns and overcome any challenge. The Ops Spot is a place to bring your challenges, without fear of judgment. But we don’t wallow or coddle, we help each other. Every problem is brought to the table with a commitment to taking action & finding a solution.
Want to maximize the true value of community? Give before you receive. This community is for generous givers. Those who will share their best ideas, their best tools, freely & without expectation. We don’t hold our cards close to our chest, we SHARE. In return, we know we will LEARN 10X what we give.
In a world that doesn’t really understand Operations, The Ops Spot is where you come to be lifted up. We are each other’s biggest advocates, cheerleaders & support network. This community is not just about what you can accomplish for yourself, it’s about what WE can accomplish together.
If you’re not having fun with it, then frankly, what’s the point? We’re here to work hard and have a blast. Because when you’re in a room with fellow nerds, passionate about what you’re doing…work IS play!
Our Mission: To create a global community for Operators to grow with each other.
The Ops Spot is the brainchild of Cameron Herold and Jhana Li—two Ops Nerds who have dedicated their careers to first being, then supporting, the Second-In-Command for cutting-edge companies.
Cameron, a best-selling author of Vivid Vision and The Second In Command, and former COO of 1-800-GOT JUNK?, now transforms businesses through his COO Alliance, which serves COOs only, and companies doing $5M to $500M in revenue worldwide. Jhana’s expertise lies in scaling early-stage startups. Born from her own experiences as a COO and Head Operations Coach for hundreds of digital companies, she now trains early-stage Operators in her Spyglass Academy.
One snowy weekend in Sedona, Arizona, Cameron and Jhana met to discuss creating a new kind of community For Operators, By Operators… The Ops Spot was born, and the rest is history.
Operations as a whole is underrepresented in the business landscape. There are appallingly few established resources for Operators to learn & develop their skills + even fewer places for Operators to congregate & receive the benefits of a genuine community.
The Ops Spot seeks to correct these problems. Our goal is to be the one-stop shop for everything an Operator would need to accelerate their career & their growth – community, innovation & skill development.
In February 2023, Jhana Li & Cameron Herold were at the Chocola Tree in Sedona. They saw Hendrix hanging out in the corner working away on his laptop. Turns out he was roaming around looking for his next long term gig. He seemed like a super a happy character too. When Jhana & Cameron told him about their vision for The Ops Spot, he lit up. He was inspired. His core purpose is to help operations people excel in their transformation as leaders. He knew the Community Manager they were going to hire for was his dream gig. And when he told them his favorite joke, they knew he was a fit.
